Come with Jim on a two-day photo adventure to Mexico. Ensenada lies only an hour and 15 minutes south of the border, yet it’s surprising how few people have discovered all of it’s wonderful photographic opportunities. From the bustling fish market at the colorful wharf to the Ventana al Mar Park, The downtown area has numerous subjects to photograph. We’ll photograph the harbor scenes, pelicans, sea lions, people, colorful shops and signs, vendors and their wares, and musicians.

Then 40 minutes south of town is the famous blowhole situated out on beautiful Punta Banda. We’ll photograph seascapes, vendors and musicians, the blowhole, and maybe a beautiful sunset.

On the second day we'll take a boat ride in the harbor before making the scenic drive to Tecate, passing through Mexico's wine country and small towns along the way. We'll finish in the authentic Mexican town of Tecate, in the Parque Hidalgo, the central plaza where many of the local people come to socialize on the weekends and listen to the mariachis play.

Also, after the trip we'll get together for an evening of image sharing and critique.

ITINERARY:

Day One: We’ll depart at 8:30 a.m. from our meeting spot in San Diego. On the way down we’ll stop at a beautiful viewpoint to take a break and to photograph the colorful architecture and the beautiful scenery.
Upon arriving downtown, we’ll have about two hours to photograph all of the sites and eat lunch. Then we’ll make the 40 minute drive out to Punta Banda, perhaps stopping at the city’s most beautiful church on the way. We’ll then spend about two hours around the blowhole, before heading back toward town to capture the last light. We'll end the night with a good Mexican food/seafood dinner at a nice restaurant.

After breakfast we'll start the drive on scenic highway 3 to Tecate. We'll make photo stops in small towns and wineries, and perhaps tour a winery. After lunch in wine country we'll take the scenic drive to Tecate, ariving in time to explore the area around the central plaza.
