MEXICO'S COPPER CANYON, Oct 12 - 21, 2012 Cost: $3775 The Copper Canyon train is considered one of the great train rides of the world. We'll ride the train as it winds from the Pacific Coast to the Copper Canyon located in the Sierra Madre Mountains, passing over 37 bridges and 86 tunnels along the way! We'll explore and photograph the areas around the rim of the canyon in the towns of Creel and Divisadero and photograph the famous Tarahumara Indians who inhabit the area. We'll also journey down inside the Canyon to the charming town of Batopilas located over 6,000 feet below on the Batopilas River.. . . . . . . . . . We'll photograph their parties for the dead in cemeteries, as well as the elaborate altars they prepare, parades, local villages, colorful markets, the ancient Zapotec ruins at Monte Alban, beautiful colonial churches, and the people and their daily life in Oaxaca. CHIAPAS: THE MAYAN WORLD, Nov 10 - 19, 2012 Cost: $3675 Chiapas is land of amazing diversity and beauty, yet has stayed off o f the mainstream tourist map. This trip encompasses great variety - from the ancient Mayan pyramids of Palenque, Yaxchilan & Bonampak, to the pine-forested highlands inhabited by traditional Mayan descendants who still carry on many of their timeless traditions.
