Maximon in Santiago Atitlan. This highland "Saint of Vices" is very unique. Maximon, or San Simon is taken very seriously by many people of the highlands. They bring offerings of rum, cigarettes and cash in the hopes that he will grant them things they need, such as luck, wealth, and love. He moves to a new home once a year, and it is a great honor for the family who hosts him. The men who guard him drink some of the rum too.
