Praying to Maximon, the patron saint of vices. Mayan villagers come from miles around to give Maximon offerings of rum, cigarettes, and money. It is considered a great honor to be one of the men who take care of Maximon - dressing him, keeping his cigarette lit, and pouring rum in his mouth. He is moved once a year to a new house, and of course this is the highest honor to host him for a year. I gave an offering of photos from my previous visit.
